We've had a busy month full of lots of family fun. We celebrated Joshua's baptism on August 4th, which also happened to be HUG Camp Sunday. Joshua was cooperative during the whole service. We had a small family gathering and turned the day turned out to be a great. Best part of the day was when Raegan said loud enough for most to hear, in church, "Joshua's wearing a dress". It was priceless.
We finally made it to the zoo for Joshua's first trip, but didn't get to see many animals. We went with 14 kids and 7 adults, so needless to say, there was more stopping to feed and talk than seeing animals. I suppose for his first trip, it was ok with him :).
Besides the zoo, we've made many trips to the park where Raegan is finally adventurous enough to go down the big slides by herself. At the beginning of the summer she was a little timid, but now loves going down even the biggest slides. We also made another trip to the Joliet Slammers baseball game and brought more people with us. Everyone enjoyed the game even if it was a loss.
On August 18th, we helped my Great Auntie Rosemary and Great Uncle Bill celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They had a special service at mass and then a wonderful dinner for the family to celebrate. Raegan loved playing with her cousin Emma (whom her baby doll is named for) and all the rest of the kids. It was a great night catching up with out of town family.
The kids and I had a sleepover Labor day weekend as Michael and the boys helped my brother Scott celebrate his bachelor party. I'm told fun was had by all and no one got arrested or in trouble otherwise, so that's always good. We enjoyed a quiet Labor Day playing bags with my family and bbqing.
The biggest event of the past month was my brother's wedding on September 8th in Oconomawac, WI. The day was absolutely beautiful with the perfect temperature and almost blue sky. Stephanie was stunning, Scott was tearful, and Raegan stole the show as the best flower girl. She did a great job taking pictures (even if she didn't smile), waiting her turn to walk, and throw petals. At one point she dropped the whole basket of petals, but with the help of Great Auntie Julie, ,she recovered nicely. Both kids held up until about 930 when they just couldn't wait any longer to get to bed. All in all it was a terrific day and we are happy to have Stephanie a part of our family.
