Happy Easter

Happy Easter from Sugar and Mommy and Daddy.

Daddy is very talented in the belly painting arena :)

And we have a completed room!

Now all we need is a Sugar Monkey to fill it with love, laughter, and of course lots of crying!

Tomorrow marks one week until due day or as Mike says it D Day minus 7. We can't believe we're this close to meeting this little one. I'm gonna be working my hardest to get things started this week so Mike's mom doesn't miss out if I actually go to next weeks' due date (she's gonna be out of town for work...). My daily walks will start along with anything else I can think of to get things started. I just hope this baby isn't as stubborn as me and waits to come out 2 weeks after D Day! Sugar is still moving like crazy; sometimes making me double over with how much room there is NOT in there anymore. As always, we'll keep everyone posted when things get going! I'm sure the blog will be updated within a day of the arrival.

37 weeks, 18 days to go...

gotta love the basketball look

Just some of the 1270 diapers Sugar will no doubt go through!

Closet full of clothes, bottles, bibs, and more!

35 weeks and I've still got my ring in and on my finger for that matter!

Here's my lovely basketball belly

We’re just under 5 weeks to go now! Sugar is still growing strong and bugging me all the time; but I guess that just means I know all is good :) Doctor said everything is moving along nicely and I go for another appointment in 2 weeks. (I got to skip a week because she said everything was going great! This makes me happy; one less appointment to go to) At that point we’ll have 3 weeks to go; holy cow!

Baby room is pretty much all done and ready for Sugar. Just finishing touches on the walls and maybe a couple more shelves are left to be done. We’d like to thank everyone who helped fill the closet and dresser with lots of essentials for Sugar; it’s all greatly appreciated! I think I’m done with my ‘nesting’ now as everything’s good to go in that room. Sugar’s bag is even packed. Of course, mine is not, but I’ve still got time (knock on wood!) We’ll keep you updated as we count down to D-day :)

Week 32 Update

We’re at the point of every two weeks for appointments! Last week I had an ultrasound to determine size. Sugar weighs in at approximately 3 pounds 15 ounces, so almost 4 pounds, and is measuring in the 52%, which is perfect and we couldn’t ask for better. At the time, Sugar was head down, but there’s still enough room for movement. Let’s hope for no more flipping. The pictures are not very good because this little one is already a very active member of the family already. I am constantly having to move one little butt out of my ribs! Sometimes if feels like I am being used as a jungle gym! Even as I type this out I can’t get a break from being kicked.

Mike has been working hard to finish the baby room. It is coming along great! We still need to settle on a dresser/changing table and storage unit, but the crib is finally all put together, complete with mattress. Ozzie loves spending time in Sugar’s room, mainly because in the morning the sun can be found pouring in the windows. We think he’s going to be a great big brother.

Week 21 Update

Everything is on schedule and measuring at a perfect 21 weeks (which I hear is almost never heard of)! I went to the doctor for a level 2 ultrasound to check on a ‘bright’ spot on the heart. Turns out it is just extra cartilage that should go away within a year of birth. It was exciting to see Sugar again. This time there was very little movement; just a little arm here and a leg there. At one point, the legs were completely stretched out! That was cool to see that there’s enough room in there to do that; guess at this point Sugar is still small enough. The nice thing was that my mom (Nana) was able to be there with me and actually see Sugar yawning at one point. I am also getting a little bump which becomes more pronounced as the weeks go by! Next appointment isn’t until after Christmas, so I’m sure we’ll have another update around that time.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and will enjoy the upcoming holidays with the ones you love!

Half way point...Wow.

Sugar Monkey says hi.

Hi Nana!

Already tired and yawning.

19 week appointment today!

We had the 19 week appointment today. Very nervous and excited to see Sugar and find out how things are moving along. And let me tell you, things were definitely moving in there. The technician had a hard time getting good pics of Sugar as s/he kept moving almost the entire time. It was fun to watch all that movement even though I can’t feel it yet; this helps reassure me that everything is as it should be. Sugar weighs in at 10 ounces, has a heartbeat of 143, and, although this wasn’t an exact measurement, about 10 inches long. I’ve only gained 4 pounds and feel pretty good most of the time. I can’t believe that we’re at the halfway point already! Seems like time is flying by; and I couldn’t be happier. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

New Pics from the Ultrasound

The nurse told us there is no way to tell if it is a boy or girl from the pictures.

Body and leg with bones visible.

Head and belly.

I think we might be having a fish.

Arm. Already flexing.

Face and belly.

Are you feeling...lucky?

Ok. Yes we did resort to betting on who could guess what baby Shunt would look like on D-Day (Delivery-Day, nothing to do with the beaches of Normandy). Well, if you want in on the action, here is the link.

http://bebepool.com/babyshunt

You enter a guess up until April 1. I am sure that is plenty of time. Winner takes half the earnings, the other goes into a savings bond for college one day.

We get to see the baby today. I am sure we will be back shortly.

Almost to the Half Way Point

Not a huge deal, but we are almost half way to the due date. Picking a due date is like being a weatherman. You might be right sometimes, but generally, it is a guess. So we will see if they are right. Appointment soon to see the baby.

Cross Country is over. First Quarter over. Report cards go in tomorrow. Parent teacher conferences soon. And Turkey Day is just around the corner. Wow, time flies.
